El mindfoodness o alimentación consciente busca enseñarnos a respetar las señales internas de nuestro organismo sin dejar a un lado el placer que puede brindar la comida con el objetivo de cultivar un estilo de vida más saludable, conocer lo que te hace bien y seguir disfrutando la vida.
La alimentación consciente promueve el autocontrol y el autoconocimiento, volviendo más «racional» y menos automático el comer actual.
La alimentación consciente puede ayudarnos a prevenir la obesidad, pues nos ayuda a comer por necesidad controlando las ingestas por emociones o por factores externos así como otros comportamientos nocivos.
La alimentación consciente entonces pretende desarrollar en nosotros la capacidad de ajustar en la medida de lo posible lo que comemos a las necesidades del cuerpo, sin evitar aquellos momentos placenteros vinculados a la alimentación.
